Student-friendly, discreet telehealth from your own space
UT Austin, ACC, St. Edward’s, Huston-Tillotson and other Central Texas students can request a confidential appointment from an apartment, dorm or home. Text our Spruce text-only line at 936-297-6665 to request help arranging care. Avoid putting sensitive sexual-health details or lab reports into an initial text; follow the practice’s secure intake instructions.
Virtual clinical consultation does not always mean fully home-based testing: some STI tests require specimen collection at a CPL location or an in-person examination.
PrEP continuity: Truvada, generic FTC/TDF, or Descovy
Already taking oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)? We can assess continuity of Truvada (emtricitabine/tenofovir DF), its generic equivalent, or Descovy (emtricitabine/tenofovir AF) when appropriate. Descovy is not approved to prevent HIV acquired through receptive vaginal sex. No medication is automatically renewed.
CDC PrEP guidance calls for repeat HIV antigen/antibody and HIV-1 RNA testing at least every three months for oral PrEP, checking for acute HIV symptoms and limiting prescriptions to no more than 90 days before the next HIV test. Kidney function, hepatitis B status and other testing are assessed based on regimen and clinical risks. HIV RNA testing is not the same as the $40 HIV-1/2 screening listed below; ask about the exact test and cost. CDC PrEP clinical guidance.
Possible HIV exposure in the past 72 hours? Seek urgent PEP evaluation immediately instead of waiting for a routine PrEP refill. If you have symptoms suggestive of acute HIV, tell the clinician before continuing PrEP.
CPL Labs around Austin — find a nearby draw station
We work with Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) for ordered testing. You can start your medical consultation at home, then visit a convenient CPL location if a urine, swab or blood specimen is needed. Confirm each site’s operating hours, required orders, specimen services and accepted payments before visiting.

Transparent STI laboratory prices
Our stated self-pay CPL laboratory pricing is listed below. Confirm the selected tests, collection location, and current total before proceeding; lab fees are separate from the $39 telehealth clinical review.
| Test | Price |
|---|---|
| Urine gonorrhea + chlamydia (GC/CT) | $65 |
| Trichomonas | $35 |
| 10-panel STI screening bundle | $145 |
| HIV-1/2 | $40 |
| HSV-1 | $35 |
| HSV-2 | $35 |
| Hepatitis A | $25 |
| Hepatitis B | $25 |
| Hepatitis C | $25 |
| Syphilis | $40 |
The 10-panel bundle is an alternative bundled offering, not the sum of the individual tests. Ask which infections and specimen types the bundle includes; targeted throat/rectal tests and HIV RNA or PrEP monitoring may cost extra.
Prescription sent to the pharmacy you choose
After reviewing your symptoms, medical history, examination needs and indicated testing, the clinician may send an appropriate prescription electronically or call it in to your preferred licensed Texas pharmacy. Treatment and prescriptions are never guaranteed, and some infections require in-person evaluation or other treatment rather than a routine pharmacy prescription.
How we can help
Whether you attend UT Austin, Austin Community College or another area institution, please bring the name and dose of your current medication and relevant records. We do not refill stimulants, benzodiazepines or other controlled substances. For an emergency, use campus emergency resources or call 911.
Before you start
- Check that your medication is eligible and non-controlled.
- Have your medication name, dose, allergy list and preferred pharmacy available.
- Contact the practice or enter the secure refill pathway. The $39 fee is for review, not a guaranteed prescription.
- The clinician determines whether a refill, monitoring, referral or in-person assessment is appropriate.
